With the start of Fall, it is a good time to take care of a couple of computer maintenance items that have probably been on your to do list for a long time.

Clean Your Computer
This is one of those chores that most of us know we need to do, but often overlook. As your computer desktop or laptop runs, there are cooling fans that blow air across the internal components to keep them from overheating. Computers do weird things when they get hot!

As they pull air in from the outside, they also bring in dust, pet hair, or whatever. These elements will coat the internal components of your computer, as well as the fans themselves. Dust on the internal components can cause them to overheat easier and clogged fans do not keep enough air circulating to keep your processor and other components cool. On computer desktop systems, all you have to do is remove the access panel (usually on the left side of the box) and spend a few minutes using pressurized air to loosen dust and then do a gentle vacuum to the components and especially the fans.

On a laptop, this may not be so easy to access the internal components, but vacuuming out the fans and air intakes and vents will go a long way to helping your computer last longer and perform better.
